Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the country's eastern region for the first time since Russia launched its invasion in February.
The Daily Sabah reported late Sunday that Zelenskyy made a visit to the city of Kharkiv as he sought to assert the strength of Ukraine’s position there.
The President said after the visit; "I feel boundless pride in our defenders.
"Every day, risking their lives, they fight for Ukraine’s freedom."
The Daily Sabah added that explosions could be heard in the area shortly after Zelenskyy's visit.
The Ukrainian army also reported heavy fighting around Donetsk, Ukraine's capital, as well as Lyman to the north.
