Zulum Commissions School, Seven Other Capital Projects In Gu

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum has commissioned a newly reconstructed school which was destroyed by Boko Haram in Gubio Local Government Area of the state.

The governor also commsioned seven other capital projects in the same LGA.

The commissioning of the projects took place on Friday in the various locations of the LGA. 

The seven other projects include a Computer Training Centre, Remodeled Gubio Secretariat, the Education Authority headquarters, the Police Divisional Headquarters, 80-shops in three shopping locations, Community Islamiya School, and Gubio Local Government Party Secretariat.

The projects were executed by the state’s Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement led by Engr. Mustapha Gubio. 

This was contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson to the governor Malam Isa Gusau.

According to Gusau, Governor Zulum highlited some potential benefits of the individual projects to the people while commissioning. 

On the computer centre which was the first of the projects commissioned, Governor Zulum said it was aimed at providing digital literacy to the people.

"The centre has 20 computer sets with provision for future expansion to meet the anticipated increase of trainees. 

"The centre is powered with solar and a back up generating set."

At the rehabilitated Gubio Local Government Secretariat which was destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents, Zulum explained the need for a conducive working environment for workers. 

"The local education authority's headquarters is to support the implementation of policies and programmes in the primary education sector," Zulum said. 

According to Gusau, "The rehabilitated Divisional Police Headquarters with fencing as well as a remodelled DPO’s quarters is to encourage police in fighting crime, the governor noted.

"The 80 shops in three locations, out of which 50 were built from scratch while the other 30 were those destroyed by Boko Haram and reconstructed, will help to stimulate commercial activities, the governor indicated. 

"An Islamiyya Primary School also commissioned, will combine western and Islamic education in a way that children from traditional Sangaya schools can get access to numeracy and literacy skills.

"The local government party secretariat which is to enhance democratic activities was privately built and donated by the state’s Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, who hails from Gubio Local Government Area."
