Governor Babagana Zulum has strongly condemned the killing of a truck driver, Malam Muhammad Bello by a soldier along the Dikwa-Gamboru Ngala Road in Dikwa local government area of Borno State.

The incident occurred when the driver refused to bribe the soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) manning a checkpoint, despite presenting clearance papers for the humanitarian goods he was carrying.

The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Bukar Tijani expressed shock, anguish, and dismay over the incident. He also extended condolences to the family of the deceased driver and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

In a statement, the Division's Public Relations Officer, Lt. Col. A.Y. Jingina, stated that an investigation had commenced following a complaint from the NURTW.

The Army assured the family of the deceased and the NURTW of its commitment to ensuring justice and emphasized that unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated. The arrested soldier is under investigation, and the Division pledged to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice.
