President Muhammadu Buhari presided over the ceremony honouring 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day held in on Sunday at the National Arcade in the Three Arms Zone, Abuja.
The President and other top government officials laid the wreath at the ceremony on the final Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration before his administration's end on May 29.
Buhari was promptly escorted onto the saluting stand for the National Salute after arriving at the National Arcade, Abuja, at 10:05 am.
The Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Nigerian Legion all had detachments of a Guard of Honor mounted, which he also examined.
Along with other prominent dignitaries, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola of Nigeria, Service Chiefs, Members of Cabinet, and the Diplomatic Corps laid the wreath.
Major General Bashir Magashi (ret. ), Minister of Defense; Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defense Staff; the service chiefs; Usman Alkali Baba, Inspector-General General of Police; representatives of members of the Diplomatic Corps; and the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion and a widow of a fallen officer were among those who also laid wreaths.
