Thiago Alcântara is a Spanish footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Premier League club Liverpool and the Spain national team. Born in Italy to Brazilian parents, he is the eldest child of former player Iomar do Nascimento Mazinho.
Thiago made his senior team debut with Barcelona in 2009 against RCD Mallorca. Before that, he was part of the Barcelona B team. In the year 2010, he scored his first goal for Barcelona against Racing de Santander and Barcelona had a 4–0 home win. In 2013, Thiago made his Bayern Munich debut where the team surpassed their rivals Borussia Dortmund. He scored his first goal for the team against Raja Casablanca of Morocco in 2013. In 2011, Thiago made his first appearance for Spain's senior squad in a friendly against Italy.
With Barcelona B, Thiago made 59 appearances and scored 3 goals. With Barcelona's First team he played 68 matches and landed up scoring 7 goals. He signed a four-year contract with Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, for a €25 million fee. For Bayern, he played 90 matches and scored 11 goals. In Liverpool, he has 67 appearances so far and scored 3 goals till date.
