Katsina United Football Club is based in Katsina. It was established in 1994 under the administration of the state's then Military Administrator Colonel Abdulmuminu Aminu. The club entered the country's football tourney from the bottom rung at the fourth division. It progressed through the tiers and reached the NPFL for the first time in 1997. The club fell to relegation in the year 2001 and was disbanded. The Changi boys returned to the footballing scene eight years later in 2009 with a new name Katsina Spotlight Football Club. The name didn't stick as the club shed it and reverted to Katsina United when it regained a spot in the top-flight league in 2015.
