Lobi Stars FC is a professional football club in the heart of Benue state playing in Nigeria's top-flight division, Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

The club has grown through many eras in Nigeria. Based in Benue State, it was first known as Hawks of Makurdi, Named after the capital of its home state, Benue.

The club was later renamed  Benue Breweries Limited Football Club after it was possessed by Benue Breweries Limited in 1985. It acquired its current name Lobi Stars in 1994 when the state government-controlled Lobi Bank which bought it over changed the name from Lobi Bank FC to Lobi Stars.

Lobi Star FC is one of the first teams granted the licence to participate in the maiden season of the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL).
