Abia State governor, Alex Oti

Alex Oti

Alex Chioma Otti is a Nigerian economist, banker, investor, philanthropist, and politician. He is currently the Governor-elect of Abia State, Nigeria, after winning the March 17 gubernatorial elections with the Labour Party. He is from Isiala Ngwa, Abia State, Nigeria.

Otti is a former Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank Plc, a retail financial institution in Nigeria. In 2015, he contested as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) IN Abia State. The Court of Appeal, which sat in Owerri on 31 December 2015, removed Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party as governor of Abia State and declared Otti, the of the April 11 and April 25 Governorship elections in the state.

The verdict was reversed on February 3, 2016, by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and Okezie Ikpeazu was reinstated as Governor. Otti is a member of the editorial board of the Nigerian news outlet Thisday and writes a weekly column titled “Outside The Box.”

Parents   Otti was born to the family of the late Pastor and Mrs. Lazarus Weze Otti of Umuru, Umuehim village in Ehi Na Uguru Ancient Kingdom, Isiala Ngwa South LGA in Abia State.

Wife

Alex Otti is married to Priscilla Otti. She is a huge supporter of her husband's political career. During the 2023 governorship elections campaign, she said her husband would lead from May 29 and empower enterprising women and youths by disbursing interest-free loans to further their businesses. She also said he would move the state from its current state to a productive economy.
