Etung Local Government Area is in Cross River State, Nigeria. The headquarters of Etung Local Government Area is in the town of Effraya. Etung has a total land area of 815 square kilometers.

As of the 2006 census, Etung Local Government Area had a population of 80,196 inhabitants. The estimated population of Etung LGA is put at 124,556 inhabitants. Etung shares boundaries with the Republic of Cameroon. It also shares borders with the Ikom, Obubra, and Akamkpa LGAs within Cross River State.

The majority of the area's inhabitants belong to the Ejagham tribal sub-division. The widely spoken language in Etung LGA is the Etung dialect of the Ejagham language.
