History of Ikot Ekpene
Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area is located in the south-southern state of Akwa Ibom, which is in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The estimated population of the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area was reported to be 180,500 in 2022.
Several towns and villages constitute Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, including Abiakpo Ikot Essien, Ibiakpan, Ibiakpo Edem Idim, Ibong Nto Akan, Ifuho, Ikot Idem, Abak Oko, and Akanaan. The Annang language is predominantly spoken in Ikot Ekpene and is an integral part of the local culture.
