History of Obanliku

Obanliku Local Government Area is in Cross River State, Nigeria. Obanliku is located in the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State. It serves as both an inter-state and international boundary Local Government Area. The headquarters of Obanliku Local Government Area is in the town of Sankwala. Obanliku is made up of ten wards, namely: Busi, Basang, Bebi, Bisu, Utanga, Becheve, Bendi 1, Bendi 2, Bishiri North, and Bishiri South.

Obanliku has a total land area of 1,057 square kilometers. As of the 2006 census, Obanliku had a population of 110,324 inhabitants. The estimated population of Obanliku Local Government Area is put at 164,903 inhabitants. The postal code for Obanliku Local Government Area is 552.

It is bordered by Kwanda Local Government of Benue State to the North, the Republic of Cameroon to the East, Obudu Local Government Area to the West, and Boki Local Government Area to the South. The area is mostly inhabited by members of the Becheve ethnic group. The Becheve language is commonly spoken in Obanliku Local Government Area.
