History of Obowo
Obowo Local Government Area was formed during the Ibrahim Babangida administration in May 1989. The headquarters of Obowo LGA is located at Isi Nweke. It was carved out of Etiti Local Government Area.
Obowo LGA comprises twenty-two autonomous communities, including:
Achara, Amanze, Umuariam, Umunachi, Umuagu, Ehume, Umungwa, Umulogho, Odenkwume, Okwuohia, Amuzi, Alike, Avutu, Umuosochie, and Umuoke. The LGA covers a certain geographical area within Imo State.
