Nollywood star Deyemi Okanlawon and outspoken lawyer and cleric Reno Omokri have butted heads over a term the latter used to describe the Super Eagles interim coach Augustine Eguavoen.

The conflict began when Omokri addressed Eguavoen as 'local' while praising him for being instrumental in the winning form of the Nigerian national team at the ongoing AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

Not entirely happy with Omokri's word, the actor told him that as a Nigerian, he (Omokri) should know that using the term is an insult.

Reacting to the rebuke, Omokri was quick to remind Okanlawon that he (Omokri) did not grow up in a ghetto, using a well-known proverb to further enlighten his critic.

"I don't know who this fellow is that is angry I praised Eguavoen as a local coach who does better than foreign coaches", Omokri wrote.

"I did not grow up in a ghetto. I grew up in the US and Nigeria. There is a local proverb, 'Don't drink panadol for another man's headache'".

Displeased with the chastisement, Okanlawon responded by telling Omokri that he should be able to differentiate between a lighthearted jab and a tackle.
