Six people were killed and others abducted in a fresh bandit invasion on Yar Nasarawa village in Katsina State's Faskari local government area.

Allnews.ng obtained from sources that the bandits carried out the attack simultaneously.

According to reports, the bandits raided the community just as the locals were settling in for the night.

The bandits allegedly set fire to three residences and four motorcycles while kidnapping an unknown number of civilians.

Residents of the local government also stated that bandits stormed Ruwangodiya village in the same local government district on Monday night, killing an unknown number of livestock.

Speaking on the condition on anonymity, a resident of the community told newsmen that, “The hoodlums also attacked Ruwan Godiya village in the same local government area and carried out their activities where residents are now counting their losses.”

However, in a statement made on Tuesday, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, spokesman for the state police command, acknowledged the occurrence.

Aliyu said that security forces had been sent to the community to maintain calm.

He said, “On February 19, 2024, at about 11.30 pm, some suspected bandits in their numbers, armed with weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Nasarawa village, Faskari LGA, where they shot and killed six persons, injured about 10, and set ablaze three houses and about 10 motor vehicles.

“The CP has since deployed the command’s tactical, operational and intelligence to the scene, combing the surrounding bushes for the possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.”

The attack is said to have occurred near Gamji Road in Katsina State's Dandume Local Government Area.

According to a trustworthy source, the bride, accompanied by roughly 30 ladies, was on her way to her husband's home in Ungwan Murjiya, Dandume LGA, between 8:30 and 9 p.m. when the vehicle was ambushed by hoodlums.

The perpetrators, thought to be armed bandits, stopped the truck and kidnapped the women.
