Operatives of the state's Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, have detained no fewer than 19 suspected kidnappers in Ondo State.

The suspects were captured in the state's northern senatorial districts, according to Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of Amotekun Corps.

The head of Amotekun continued by saying that 17 additional people suspected to be criminals were taken into custody as well.

Adeleye explained that Amotekun agents have been stationed throughout the state's eighteen local government districts as he paraded the suspects through the Corps' headquarters in Akure.

In addition, he warned the populace and traditional leaders to exercise caution when approaching unfamiliar faces in both their neighbourhoods and in forested areas.

“I want to place it on record that in the last month, there were three kidnapping attempts that we were able to foil successfully. Which means that in the last month, there have been no successful kidnapping activities.

“A cross section of these criminals is a little bit different from what we normally have, where we parade 20 people and 15 of them are kidnapping suspects. We have more housebreaking and stealing,” Adeleye said.
