Gambo Danpass, a traditional title holder in Kano State has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to step in and resolve the issue with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) himself.
Danpass said while the President's directive to relieve the Minister of Labour and Employment of his mediator role and replace him with Adamu Adamu, the Ministry of Education came late, Buhari can still remedy the situation without further delay.
He added that students now roamed the streets aimlessly which could force them to disrupt the peace of the society.
“Although it is a bit late in removing the Labour Minister as the mediator in the lingering strike, and allowing the Education Minister, Adamu Adamu handle it, still the President should directly come in and resolve the matter himself.
“Right now we have thousands of our children roaming around the streets without anything so the government should know that they are willing tools in creating uncertainty in the peace of the nation," he said.
Danpass further encouraged the members of the National Assembly to make sure tertiary institution-based unions find reasons to put an end to the lingering strike.
The official also appealed to President Buhari to tackle the incessant abductions and killings of innocent Nigerians promptly.
