A middle-aged man in the Kabeama coastal settlement of Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, identified as Tony has been apprehended by neighbours as he attempted to flee after beheading his girlfriend, Ebibraaladei Maxwell.
Allnews.ng learnt that the terrible incident included an unmarried, live-in couple with a child.
According to neighbours, the incident occurred at 3 a.m. on Saturday, with the victim's severed head discovered at daybreak.
Residents later apprehended Tony as he attempted to flee the area.
He was eventually turned up to the police.
Musa Mohammed, spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, verified the event.
Mohammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, stated that the victim was in jail and being interrogated.
According to reports, Sagbama Police Division operatives evacuated Maxwell's remains and placed them at the Federal Medical Centre mortuary in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.
