Bichi Emirate in Kano has on Friday prayed for an end to the insecurity bedevilling the North.

Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who organised the prayer session was joined by district heads, clerics and residents of the emirate.

The Chief Imam of the Bichi emirate, Khalifa Lawal Abubakar Bichi, led the session with recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by supplications and intense prayers for leaders and fellow citizens of the country.

While praying for an end to the security challenges, the Imam also prayed for bountiful harvests during raining season, seeking God’s intervention in ensuring peaceful, free, fair and credible elections in 2023.

“We need to repent to Allah and seek his forgiveness. All these are happening as a result of our habits and wrongdoings. May Allah forgive us all,” the Chief Imam said.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the prayers, Chairman of Bichi Local Government Council, Professor Yusuf Muhammad Sabo, the incessant and rising insecurity necessitated the session.

He also said as the 2023 elections are fast approaching, there is the need for intense prayers for peace and good leadership in the country.

“We are facing serious security challenges in the country, therefore it is imperative to organise such prayer sessions to seek peace, unity and progress in our nation. We should also endeavour to pray to have peaceful elections in 2023,” he added.

The Northern region of Nigeria is strangled by insecurity, making it unsafe as days go by and the 2023 election nears.
