Borno: Zulum appoints 168 aides, 104 board members

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of 168 aides, including 9 Senior Technical Assistants, 81 Senior Special Assistants and 78 Special Assistants, and 104 board members for the state's agencies.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bukar Tijjani conveyed the governor's approval in a statement on Monday in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, the 9 Senior Technical Assistants include Mohammed Zanna Borkoma on General Services, Tahiru Shettima on Political Matters, Mai Yau Adamu on Finance and Economy, and Hajja Fati Gambo Dori on Planning.

Others are Mohammed Umar Lamba on Cabinet, Usman Abubakar Wakta on Transport and Energy, Surv. Amsami Alh. Bukar on Land Matters, Engr. Kolomi Bukar on Equipment and Machinery and Umaru Sa’ad Yahe on Local Government and Emirate Affairs. 

The SSG also listed 104 others as Chairmen and Board members of 15 agencies and commissions of the state.

He said Local Government Pension Board has Mahmud Lawan Maina as Chairman, and other members including Wakil Abbas Jilbe, Zannah Dalatu Kullima and Galdi Garba Shani.

Meanwhile the State Urban Planning Board has Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Wala as Chairman while Zannah Mustapha and Ba’aji Kachalla serve as members. 

The Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) also has Alhaji Zannah Mahdi as Chairman while Yagana Abba Gumsu, Engr Lawan Umar Grema (Kaga) and Barrister Abba Buba Chekene serve as members. 

The State Education Trust Fund also has Professor Hauwa Biu as Chairperson while Lydia Gora and Kaka Alhaji Abba serve as members. 

Other agencies included the Audit Service Commission where Ibrahim Mohammed Lawalam serves as Chairman, Investment Promotion Agency with Bulama Laminu as Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) with Sheriff Bukar, Mada Saidu and Mustapha Kagu as District Coordinators among others.

The SSG explained that the Governor's approval was based on powers conferred on him by the provisions of Section 208(2)d of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.

He said: “The governor congratulates the appointees and looks forward to their contributions to the development of Borno."
