Cofine FC of Uyo head coach Remi Amadi has been banned by the World football governing body FIFA for two years from all football-related activities, Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) confirmed on Tuesday.

The Nigerian football federation issued a statement on Friday stating clearly the ban imposed on the Nigerian club coach.

His suspension from all football activities is a result of being found guilty of attempting to manipulate the outcome of a match seven months ago.

According to the NFF's statement, Amadi confessed to have attempted to manipulate the outcome or result of the match between Cofine FC and Bussdor FC as recorded in an audio conversation tendered as evidence.

Based on other evidence, the NFF’s Disciplinary Committee earlier slammed a two-year ban on the coach and a fine of N500,000 on Cofine FC.

“The NFF Integrity Unit forwarded the said decision of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and all the relevant documentation to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee via a letter dated 25th August 2021, requesting the Committee to extend the sanction to have a worldwide effect, in accordance with Article 66, FIFA Disciplinary Code.

“The worldwide effect was activated by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee at its meeting of 5th October 2021.”
