The Magistrate Court in Ekiti State has remanded a suspect, Bubuga Lede, aged 25, believed to be involved in the killing of two traditional rulers in the state.

Magistrate O. F. Bamidele ordered the defendant to be remanded at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti for 30 days, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

The two murdered traditional rulers, Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin, and Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olatunde Olusola, were brutally killed on January 29, between Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti while returning from a security meeting.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Osuolale Yomi, informed the Magistrate Court that the defendant, represented by Barrister Olusoji Oladele, is suspected of committing the offenses of conspiracy to kidnap and attempting to murder the two monarchs.

Osuolale also alleged that the defendant attempted to kidnap Oba Samuel Adebayo Fatoba and his driver, Bamidele Ibikunle Joseph.

The defendant was apprehended in Ikole-Ekiti on January 29, with offensive weapons. The offenses are punishable under sections 280, 241, and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021. The duplicate case file has been forwarded to the Ekiti State Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
