Easter: Police assure residents of crime - free festivity in Oyo

The Oyo state Police Command has disclosed that it has put all necessary measures in place to ensure that residents of the state enjoy a hitch free Easter celebration.

The state Police Public Relation Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso disclosed this today on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, in a statement made available to newsmen.

The Oyo state police Spokesman said ahead of the coming Easter celebration, the state would witness effective deployment of the Command’s operational, intelligence, and tactical assets across all the geopolitical zones.

Osifeso added that the CP has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to personally lead patrols across all government critical infrastructure, Media Houses, Correctional facilities, Banks, Places of Worship, Recreational Centers, Public spaces and all entry and exit points within and outside the State.

“In a conscious bid to maintain the level of tranquility throughout the Easter Celebrations and beyond, the Oyo State Command under the dynamic leadership of CP Adebola A. Hamzat, psc, FICMC, fdc, Ph.D has emplaced high level security measures across the State.

“To this end, the holidays shall witness effective deployment of Command’s operational, intelligence and tactical assets characterized by visibility policing, effective surveillance, confidence-building patrols, intelligence-led stop and search to forestall any untoward happening during the holidays and beyond.

“Consequent upon the above, the CP has tasked Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to personally lead patrols across all Government critical infrastructure, Media Houses, Correctional facilities, Banks, Places of Worship, Recreational Centers, Public spaces and all entry and exit points within and outside the State.” SP Osifeso said.

While wishing all Christians and residents a happy celebration with their family and loved ones, the state police Command however, reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of lives and properties of all residents warning criminal elements who may wish to use the occasion of the celebration to perpetrate crime to leave the state.

The Command equally admonished Christians to use the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration to reflect on the virtues of forgiveness, peace, tolerance, selflessness and love.

“While felicitating with the Christians and indeed all the good people of Oyo State, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command has re-affirmed the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property and in the same direction, it enjoins residents particularly Christians to reflect on the virtues of forgiveness, peace, tolerance, selflessness and love.”
