A 20-year-old man named Ojo was charged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates' Court in Ekiti State on Monday for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing.

The defendant was accused of stealing N300,000 worth of noodles, Maggi spices, salt, onions, 'fufu', and a pot of soup from the complainant.

Allnews.ng gathered that the event occurred on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 12 noon, along Falegan, Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti.

Inspector Moyosola Adesola, the police prosecutor, revealed that the acts violated sections 322 and 302(1) (a) of the Ekiti State Criminal Laws 2021.

However, the prisoner rejected the accusations, and his attorney, Olayinka Opaleke, urged the court to grant him bail.

Meanwhile, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N50,000 with one surety in the same amount and adjourned the matter to April 23 for hearing.

Meanwhile, the Ado-Ekiti federal highway, a vital route connecting Ekiti State with Kogi, Ondo, and Abuja, faced a blockade by outraged students and staff of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, due to its poor condition on Monday.

The protest, which caused significant traffic congestion and gridlock throughout the day, affected commuters travelling to various destinations, including key institutions like Government College, Ado-Ekiti, the Federal Silos Centre, the cargo airport under construction, and Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), along with its 400-bed Multi-System Hospital.

During the peaceful demonstration, the students expressed frustration over the deteriorating state of the road, emphasising its importance as the only access route to their campus.

They highlighted the difficulties they face in commuting to school, citing safety concerns and alleging fatalities resulting from accidents on the road.

They described the road as a death trap, attributing numerous accidents and fatalities to its poor state.
