The FCT Administration has issued a one-week ultimatum to the raodside Kuje market traders, as well as owners of illegal structures to vacate the area or face the risk of demolition.

The Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring Inspection and Enforcement, Ikharo Attah, gave the warning on Friday during a stakeholders engagement meeting as display of goods and trading activities impede free flow of traffic.

Attah noted that the FCT minister, Mohammed Bello had directed that all roadside traders along the market must relocate to the two newly-built markets close by, adding that those selling perishables will be taken to the farmers market.

He stated that the FCT Minister, Muhammed  Bello, was disappointed with the deterioration of both environmental infrastructures and security in the area after his recent visit to Kuje town.

Attah urged all the stakeholders to maximally use the one week to move out from all the illegal places to avoid unnecessary losses, as nothing would stop the cleanup exercise.

For his part, the Gomo of Kuje, HRH Alhaji Haruna Jibrin, said he has given his support and blessings to the planned cleanup exercise because he believes and hopes it would restore sanity and most importantly security to the town.
