The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has threatened to shut down Area 1 shopping complex in Abuja, the nation's capital over irregularities being carried out by the traders.
The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Umar Shuaibu stated this on Monday when he visited the market with other senior officials of the administration.
Shuaibu regretted the deplorable condition of the mall which was the first in Abuja, noting that the administration will ensure it is restored to the desired standard.
While lamenting the distortion of the original layout of the mall with illegal makeshift structures, he explained that the market has places earmarked for different purposes.
According to him, the administration would take stringent measures against the traders as soon as the committee set up to review the situation and submit its report.
