Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has described the Supreme Court victory of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as a testament to the strength of democracy.

Governor Mohammed felicitated with Fintiri and their party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on the victory.

As contained in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday and made available by his new media aide, Lawal Muazu Bauchi, Governor Mohammed wished Adamawa state continuous progress.

He partly stated that: "Congratulations to my brother, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, our great party, PDP, and the resilient people of Adamawa State on the affirmation of the March 18 election results by the Supreme Court.

"This unanimous decision is a testament to the strength of our democracy and the will of the people. Wishing continued progress and prosperity for Adamawa State."

The five-man apex court panel led by Justice John Okoro dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress' (APC'S) Aishatu Dahiru Binani challenging the election of Fintiri.

Dismissing the appeal for lacking in merit Justice Okoro held that the act of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Ari, was an act of irresponsibility and criminality.

Hudu Ari had in the 2023 governorship election dramatically declared Binani as winner of the election.

The supreme court held that the embattled resident electoral commissioner lacked the powers to announce election results.

While awarding N1 million against Binani and APC in favour of Fintiri and his party, the PDP, Justice Okoro said: "On the whole, this appeal lacks merit and is accordingly dismissed. The decision of the lower Tribunal is hereby confirmed."
