A fire outbreak at Lawan Dambazau Road near the rail line in Kano State has reportedly destroyed at least eight vehicles and eight shops.
This was contained in a statement signed by the service spokesperson, Saminu Yusif on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the incident occurred in an uncompleted building used for carpentry work and car repair garage.
“we received a distress call at about 02:15 hrs by police officer P & G Kwalli police division, who informed us of a fire outbreak at Lawan Dambazau road by rail line.
“We deployed firemen who arrived at the scene of the incident and found out it was an uncompleted building where the work of carpenters and car repairers is carried out that was gutted by fire,” he said.
The spokesperson added that an investigation concluded that the cause of the fire was an electrical spark originating from the carpenters' workspace.
“With the help of Allah and the effort of our men, we managed to save about 10 sheds with one temporary Mosque and 37 cars were parked at the garage.
“The fire affected eight sheds with carpentry equipment and eight cars were burnt.,” Yusif added.
