Former Brazil coach Tite has signed a deal with Flamengo to take charge as manager until December 2024, the Brazilian club has announced.

The 62-year-old, who has been out of work since Brazil's quarter-final exit at the World Cup in Qatar last year, replaces Jorge Sampaoli.

His predecessor Sampaoli, who took over in April from Portuguese Vitor Pereira, was fired on September 28 after he failed to win a trophy for the club.

Flamengo said in a statement: "(Tite) arrives to take charge of the team in the final stretch of the 'Brasileirao' and throughout next year's season."

Tite has previously coached a string of Brazilian sides, namely: Corinthians, Gremio, Atletico Mineiro and Palmeiras.
