Ghana international footballer, Christian Atsu is among those who have reportedly been trapped under rubble after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Turkey and Syria on Monday.
The 31-year-old has previously played for Newcastle United, Everton, and Porto before joining Hatayspor in the Turkish Super Lig last September.
On Sunday, Atsu was the hero for 'The Star of the South,' scoring a 97th-minute goal off the bench in a 1-0 win over Kasimpasa.
"Praying for some positive news, @ChristianAtsu20," Newcastle United tweeted on Monday.
When Ghana finished second in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, Atsu was named player of the tournament.
More than 1,300 people were killed and 6,000 were injured in the disaster, according to officials. After the initial quake, a magnitude 7.5 aftershock struck Turkey's south.
It was reported that it was felt again in Syria and Iraqi Kurdistan.
The upheaval has also affected other footballers and athletes.
Hatayspor manager Volkan Demirel's wife shared a tearful message after a massive aftershock with a magnitude of 7.5 struck Turkey's south hours after the original quake.
