Gombe: Govt assures fairness as five companies jostle for 1.2km road contract

The Gombe State Government has assured contractors of fairness as five companies submit their proposals for the construction of a 1.2 kilometer road connecting premises of the State College of Nursing and Midwifery.

The proposals were received on Thursday by the State Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transportation, Engineer Usman Maijama'a Kallamu.

The five companies included Grandscope Construction Limited, Builders Nigeria Limited, Tinka Point Nigeria Limited, Triacter Nigeria Limited, and EEC International Limited. 

Speaking at the Ministry of Works, the commissioner emphasized that government will treat the evaluation of the submitted proposals with all fairness.

He explain that the project was to complement Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's effort of constructing a new college of nursing in the state.

He added that the governor approved the road project to link various sectors of the newly constructed college to ensure proper access roads for people.

The commissioner equally commended the companies for maintaining high standards at their various construction sites in the state, and urged them to ensure completion of the projects within their stipulated time before embarking on new ones.

While urging residents to pray for the success of Governor Yahaya in delivering more infrastructural projects in the state, he assured of completing the proposed project before the rainy season begins.

As contained in a statement by the ministry and made available by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the spokesperson to the State Governor, in their respective goodwill messages, Engineer Hamzat Abubakar, Chairman of the Nigeria Society of Engineers Gombe State Chapter, Engineer Jonathan Mshelia, COREN Zonal Coordinator, and QS Pakison, representing the contractors, all commended the open and transparent tender process. 

They stated that "The contracting community is united, and success for one company is a celebration for all."

The statement partly reads: "Engineer Gideon Mele, representing the Director-General of the Due Process Office, announced the participating companies and their bids. 

"Grandscope Construction Limited submitted a bid of 1.9 billion Naira with a completion period of four months, Builders Nigeria Limited at 1.7 billion Naira, within a completion period of 12 months, EEC International Limited offered a bid of 2.41 billion Naira with a seven-month completion period.

"Triacter Nigeria Limited bid 1.16 billion Naira for the project with a three-month completion timeframe, while Tinka Point Nigeria Limited submitted a bid of 2.2 billion Naira with a five-month completion period."
