Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya hosted guests to a welcome dinner ahead of today's launch of the Outsource To Nigeria Initiative (OTNI) in the state.
The guests including Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, the Country Director of the World Bank as well as Chief Executive Officers from both private and public sectors among others are expected to equally witness the official commissioning of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Centre in the state.
The launching of the initiative and commissioning of the BPO Centre is expected to hold today (Monday, March 4, 2024) at the International Conference Center along Gombe-Bauchi Road by 9:00 am.
Vice President Kashim Shettima will be leading the historic event which is the first and biggest of its kind in Nigeria.
Following the launch, the initiative is expected to pave the way for the employment of 2,000 youths as part of efforts to tackle unemployment.
The governor had on Saturday expressed the readiness of the state government and its people to receive the Vice President for the event.
He noted the commitment of the state to become a hub for outsourcing services, taking advantage of the huge potential of youths in the state, and tapping into the $350 billion global market of the initiative.
The governor's spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli had explained: "OTNI is a catalyst for change in the business process and technology-enabled outsourcing sector, and the fastest route to job security for the teeming youths in Gombe State and Nigeria at large."
