Governor Idris makes promise to private investors, hails Spain's investment in agriculture

The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris has pledged to establish an enabling environment for private investors to ensure their businesses thrive in the state.

Idris made the pledge during the commissioning of a tomato farming and processing facility, the GB Foods at Gafara in Ngaski Local Government Area of the State.

Describing the commissioned facility as the largest tomato processing plant in Africa similar to the WACOT rice mill in the state, the Governor hailed Spain for finding the state worthy of such a huge investment in the State's agriculture sector. 

He equally commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sending a high-powered delegation to obtain first-hand information on the activities of the facility.

He said, "The state would remain hospitable to all investors with the necessary enabling environment for profitable business."

Meanwhile on his part, representing President Tinubu, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari reiterated the commitment of the president to providing a conducive environment and necessary encouragement to private investors to invest in the agricultural sector in line with his eight-point agenda. 

He further commended the company for the investment in Kebbi and its effort to expand the facility to other areas across the country. 

As contained in a statement by Yahaya Sarki, the governor's spokesperson, the Minister appreciated the Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Juan Sell, for personally visiting the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to invite the president to the commissioning ceremony. 

Also speaking, Alhaji Muhammad Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation said the president has massively invested in agricultural development and created an enabling environment for investors to invest in the sector.

He said: "The action of GB foods has discountenanced those who think all bad things come out from Nigeria. 

"The commissioning of the processing facility by the company is a very good story because it has shown that it is investing more and more in the country, employing many people of whom more than 70 per cent are women of all ages.

"I am happy that GB Foods is the largest tomato processing plant in Africa as it processes Two thousand, four hundred (2,400) metric tones of tomato per day.

"I urge you to remain dogged and I call on other investors to invest across the country."
