Nigerian startup carrier Green Africa Airways has made an imposing entrance into the country's aviation sector with its website launch and low discounted ticket sales.

The airline, which is a brainchild of serial entrepreneur Babawande Afolabi, has announced it will be launching its much-anticipated services on June 24. On Tuesday, it began sales of tickets for travelers to reserve a seat on its fleet. following pre-sales approval from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Green Africa Airways recently announced the unveiling of its new route networks, and the arrival of two aircraft, ATR72-600s with the third one expected soon.

The airline is now putting its competitors on their toes with incredibly low discounts, as it has commenced flight ticket sales for as low as N16,500. Flight bookings are available on greenafrica.com with flight dates starting from June 24, 2021, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Interestingly,  Air peace, an aviation old-timer, has cut down ticket prices for Lagos to Abuja from N60,000 (in April) to between N23,000 and N29,000.

The industry newcomer, which recently completed its air operator’s certificate certification process from the NCAA, announced its first set of new domestic routes last week that included destinations such as Abuja, Akure, Enugu, Ilorin, Owerri, and Port Harcourt.

“We are thrilled that our customers can now book their trips with us,” says chief executive Babawande Afolabi. “We are building a value carrier that will connect customers to their opportunities and be a catalyst for positive change across the region.”
