Save the Poor and Needy Charity Initiative (SPANCI) has called for the removal of Alamura of Amura in Oriire local government in Oyo State, Oba Samuel Olakunle over allegations of land grabbing and other related offences.
SPANCI President, Comrade Yemi Ezekiel Bello made the appeal in a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday in Ibadan, the state capital.
Bello in the statement said that Olakunle has been prosecuted by the Oyo State government through the office of the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state on four count charges relating to land grabbing, conspiracy and forceful entry.
He added that the state task force on real property protection and anti-land grabbing law found him culpable after an investigation.
He then said that it is wrong for the same state that prosecuted him to still honour him and present him the staff of office as an Oba.
Bello while speaking further appealed to Makinde to immediately remove Olakunle as Alamura of Amura.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the IGP, AIG ZONE 11 and the Oyo CP to caution the men of Owode Area command to immediately withdraw themselves from the land matters upon which Olakunle was prosecuted.
Bello said, "We want to appeal through this medium to His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde who is known for being a credible and law-abiding governor and Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters to immediately remove Deacon Olakunle Samuel the Alamura of Amura land in Ikoyi Ile, Orire local government area Ogbomoso as Oba for the reasons as follows:
"That he has been prosecuted by Oyo state government through the office of the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General Oyo state ministry of Justice on about four count charges relating to land grabbing, conspiracy, forceful entry etc after the state task force on real property protection and anti-land grabbing law found him culpable after investigation.
"That after he got a staff of office he sent his thugs one Olakunle Bayo, Biola jako and others back on the same Ilodo's land for which he was prosecuted by the state before even when the matter is still before the court of competent jurisdiction and has been warned by the task force against self-help pending the decision of the court.
"That he has also conspired with Officer Jimoh Salawu and the Owode area commander's ACO who is believed as next to the area commander to stop Ilodo members from entering their land for farming and probably maliciously arrest and prosecute them in an Ogbomoso court on a matter which police lacks power.
"We hereby also appeal to the IGP, AIG ZONE 11 and the Oyo CP to caution the men of Owode area command to immediately withdraw themselves from the land matters upon which the state has prosecuted their client Alamura of Amura land and which is still before the court.
"We have written a petition to the honourable Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General Oyo State Ministry of Justice and attached about four-count charge sheets as we have also informed Ogbomoso NBA chairman of the involvement of the said lawyer in illegality and disrespect to court."
