No fewer than five persons have reportedly been abducted by unidentified gunmen in Ebonyi State.
The incident occurred around the heavily traversed Mile 2 area along the Ishiagu/Okigwe express road within Ebonyi State.
The victims, who were travelling homeward from Enugu Airport using an airport taxi bearing the registration number KWL 941 PD, were abducted within the Mile 2 vicinity in Ishiagu, situated within the Ivo Local Government Area.
The assailants subsequently transported them into nearby woodland.
According to an anonymous community source, those taken hostage include Ajah Chibuzor, aged 41, his spouse, their 12-year-old daughter, and the airport taxi driver.
It was also disclosed that during the course of abducting the victims, the culprits encountered a farmer on his farm and subsequently abducted him as well.
The vehicle used to transport the victims was abandoned at the scene but was later retrieved and transferred to the Ishiagu Police Station.
Efforts to get comments on the incident from the Ebonyi Police Command proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report on Wednesday.
