Gunmen have kidnapped the mother of an All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate for the central zone of Jigawa state, Hon. Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya.
The 70-year-old Hajiya Jaja was kidnapped from her home in Kiyawa local government area of the state.
The Jigawa state police command through its spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shisu confirmed the incident, noting that it happened in the early hours of Tuesday.
He added that the kidnappers invaded the house and forced the woman out.
He further explained that upon receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police quickly mobilised a special rescue team.
He added that the commissioner has ordered for the rescue of the woman while arresting the perpetrators.
The force's spokesperson added that the command was working with sister organisations to bring perpetrators to book.
Leadership reports that the kidnappers invaded numbering between 15 and 20 armed on three vehicles.
