Gunmen in a fresh attack in Plateau State killed a 17-year-old herder and 35 cows when they opened fire on their victim between Nafan Village Fan District and Doruwa Babuje in Ropp District of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area.

One other person was also inflicted with a machete cut and is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the area.

The Governor, Caleb Mutfwang while confirming the killing in a statement on Wednesday said he received with rude shock the brutal attack orchestrated by unknown persons in Barki Ladi LGA.

Muftwang, in a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bare, condemned the acts of lawlessness in totality.

He said "The unholy act undermines the government’s effort to entrench harmonious living among all and sundry in the state.

"Security agencies have been mandated to hunt and track down the perpetrators of the heinous crimes and ensure justice for the victims."

The governor urged traditional, community and religious leaders as well as youths and women in the affected communities to collaborate with other stakeholders to commence dialogue and restore normalcy while criminal elements within the communities should be exposed to face the full wrath of the law.
