Gunmen numbering about six have reportedly shot dead a 20-year-old while robbing homes in Azikoro town, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The victim identified as Elo Lucky was shot by the robbers in the early hours of Tuesday.
It was learned that the gunmen stormed the area broke into homes, stole phones, and demanded ATM cards from which they withdrew all their victims’ monies through the POS machines they came along with.
The dead victim was said to be living with her mother and stepfather and was preparing to write the supplementary JAMB exams before her murder
A source said they were unaware of the robbers’ attack until they heard the gunshot that killed the victim.
According to reports, the robbers raided six other homes in the area unresisted.
The incident left Azikoro town in mourning as sympathisers trooped to the home of the bereaved family.
When contacted, the Bayelsa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
