Some men suspected to be herdsmen allegedly invaded a public secondary school in Oyo on Thursday morning.
It was gathered that the herders stormed Community Grammar School, Alaropo Nla in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
According to an eyewitness, the men who numbered over 20 invaded the school with their cattles and injured some of the teachers and students who were present.
While many were left with broken hands and legs, sword and machete injuries were meted out on other students and teahers including Paul Olabode.
Giving an account, the source revealed that the school had just concluded the morning devotion and the students were settling down in their classrom to resume their second-term examination when the herders invaded the school farm with their cows grazing on the crops thoughtlessly.
The teachers and students' efforts made at driving them away were brutally resisted.
Confirming the incident, the school principal, Grace Alamu said it had been reported to the police.
“I am on my way to the school. Policemen are coming to the school this morning,” she told Vanguard.
As of the time of filing this report, effort to reach the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Adewale Osifeso, to further confirm the invasion proved abortive despite several calls put through to him.
