It has been revealed that the accommodation problem in tertiary institutions is taking a toll on various aspects of the lives of the students.

The revelation was made by the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association recently.

The National President of the association, Dr Oyedokun Abiodun, while calling for the government’s attention, said that lack of enough hostels is a general problem in most public tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

"It significantly impacts the non-resident students, affecting not only their academic pursuits but also various aspects of their lives."

Abiodun spoke in Ado Ekiti on Friday when the alumni association handed over two new blocks of hostels to the school management led by the Rector, Dr Temitope Alake, for the use of students.

The two blocks of hostels were named after two old students – the pioneer National President of the alumni association and immediate past Rector of the institution, Dr Hephzibah Oladebeye, and a deceased member, Rita Aboloma.
