The Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Benjamin Uwajumogu, has died at the age of 51.
Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha, confirmed the death to journalists outside the Senate Chamber on Wednesday.
He was said to have died on Wednesday morning in Abuja after falling ill for several weeks, despite seeking medical help in the United Arab Emirates.
