Niger State police have confirmed that nine residents of Kuchi Village of Munya Local Government Area were abducted by armed men.
The Command’s Commissioner of Police, Bala Kuryas confirmed the abduction on Friday in Minna, adding that the police anti-kidnap squad had since been deployed to the area to rescue the victims.
“We have put in place sensitive security measures that will ensure the victims are rescued and are united with their loved ones.
”All we require from members of the general public is vital information that could aid our men on ground to ensure successful operation,’’ he said.
A source told NAN that the gunmen abducted the residents on Thursday night as they went from house to house, waking up their victims which include women and children before leading them into the bush through cattle routes.
Abductions, especially in Northern Nigeria have become a daily occurrence, with many of the victims later set free after paying a ransom, while others are killed after or not paying the demanded sum.
