The Commissioner of Police (CP) in Jigawa State, Aliyu Tafida, has ordered the raid of suspected criminal hideouts and black spots across the state, twice a week.

This was disclosed by the command’s Spokesman, ASP Lawan Shiisu in a statement issued to newsmen in Dutse, the state capital.

Shiisu stated that Tafida gave the order during his monthly meeting on July 30 with the command’s Security Managers, Area Commanders (ACs), Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and other Senior Police Officers.

He explained that the CP directed that the order be carried out with immediate effect.

He added that Tafida also urged all the ACs and DPOs to always liaise with the State Intelligence Bureau’s operatives for intelligence information before any raid to ensure that suspects would be arrested and exhibits recovered.

“The CP directed that the raid be carried out twice in a week, unless if there’s any official assignment or other eventualities,” Shiisu further stated.

According to him, in compliance with the directive, a police team from Taura Divisional Police Headquarters, led by SP Yohana Babale, on Monday, at about 8:30 p.m., raided criminal hideouts at a railway in Taura Local Government Area.

He stated that a 20-year-old suspect was arrested with 111 wraps of dried leaves, suspected to be Cannabis, 33 packs of rubber solution, popularly known as “Sholisho”, a handful of soak and die solution, one cutlass and two pairs of scissors.

He explained that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
