Kano State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has said the tricycle riders in the state will continue to pay their daily N100 levy despite the ongoing strike by the tricyclist.

The Managing Director of the KAROTA, Baffa Baba Dan’agundi who made this known on Monday said the state government will not rescind its decision on the daily N100 tax payment by the operators.

It could be recalled that the state tricycle riders protested for days last week over the daily N100 levy imposed on them by KAROTA before embarking on strike on Monday (Today).

Nonetheless, Dan’agundi in a statement on Monday insisted that the operators will still pay the money despite the strike they embarked on.

The KAROTA Managing Director further affirmed that the strike of the tricycle riders cannot arm-twist the agency to reverse the payment of the levy.

However, it was observed that the strike is having a serious impact on commuters in the state as many had to embark on trekking and make do with a minivan.
