Kano State Police operatives have confirmed the arrest of Salisu Adamu,18, of Danbatta area of Kano metropolis over alleged kidnapping of his three-year-old cousin, Auwalu Aminu.
Allnews.ng gathered that the victim's father, Mallam Aminu Garba Danbatta on December 19, reported the incident to the police headquarters.
Five days after the teenager missed, Adamu contacted the family through a disguised number and demanded N1 million ransom.

Responding quickly to the allegation, Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Usaini Gumel, stated that the police investigated the issue, culminating in Adamu's arrest and the child's rescue in Gwale Local Government Area.
During interrogation, Adamu admitted to acting alone and cited financial difficulties as his motivation. He intended to use the ransom to pay off debts totalling more than N100,000 from a failing business enterprise.
Danbatta voiced his surprise and disappointment upon learning that the abduction was carried out by a family member. Despite the betrayal, he appreciated the Kano State Police for acting quickly to save his son.
CP Gumel promised a thorough investigation and that Adamu would face legal penalties.
