An Ikeja Magistrate Court, Tuesday ordered that Adesina Lawal, 56, be remanded in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.
O.A Layinka, the Presiding Chief Magistrate, did not accept Lawal's plea.
She directed that the case file be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
The magistrate adjourned the case until April 30, awaiting the DPP's advice.
The prosecution, Insp. Lucky Ihieme, told the court that Lawal allegedly committed the act in November 2023 at Vero Asha Street, Off Clem Road, Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos.
He said Lawal had carnal knowledge with the minor without her consent and had also penetrated the girl's mouth.
According to Ihieme, the offence violated sections 137 and 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law (2015).
According to Lagos State law, the offence is punishable by life in prison.
