Police in Karatina have arrested a fifty-year-old man for attempting to defile a 12-year-old minor at Ihwagi village in Mathira East, Kenya.
A relative who was passing by and witnessed the perpetrator carrying the minor into his three-bedroom residence caught his pants down.
Dickson Weru, a local was walking back from a shop when he noticed the man and the minor entering the house.
“All of a sudden, I suspected that this man who is known due to his sexual exploit in the village was up to no good so I followed them and to my surprise, the minor was inside his bedroom so I just shut the door and informed my fellow villagers,” he said.
Weru, the child's relative stated that when asked what he was doing with the minor, the man stated that he planned to send her to a neighbouring shop but the villagers dismissed his claims and detained him.
According to women who spoke to Capital News, a Kenya media outlet, the man is renowned for luring children into sex, although he has always denied this.
“This guy here is known for seeking minors on several occasions he has been sighted with young girls but this time he has been caught in the Act,” said a woman who talked on condition of anonymity.
Police in Karatina said the man will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
