Prince John Ogar from the University of Sierra Leone has been elected as the new president of the National Association of Nigerian Students in Diaspora on Wednesday.

Ogar was declared winner after defeating Abdulrazak Abdulrahman from South Africa University in the election which took place online.

The new president takes over from Evidence Ahayere whose tenure recently ended.

Following his victory, Ogar in a statement pledged to prioritise issues faced by students in diaspora.

“We are coming to the aid to complement what the Federal Government is doing to promote a better education system in Nigeria," he said.

On the collaboration with NANS, Ogar said, "we have built a cordial relationship with them and we cannot do without them because they are our father and we have been working with them to ensure that we have a better education system in Nigeria."

The new president urged Nigerian students in Diaspora to remain good ambassadors to the country, noting “Ambassador does not limit to those appointed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but if you are studying in outside country, you owe Nigeria the sacred obligation to project her image very well."
