The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has announced that it will be hosting the 50th-anniversary conference of the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD).
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Kabiru Bala revealed this while receiving the President of NAPHER-SD, Prof. Rafou Okuneye and some members of its executive body.
The VC gave the title of the 50th-anniversary conference as “Business Potentials and Tapping in the Profession of Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance”
According to Bala, ABU prioritises sports as it has become one of the most lucrative industries in the world.
The ABU boss, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor administration, Prof. Ahmed Ibrahim, urged the professional sports association to discover staff and students with hidden sports talent in the institution and beyond and train them to the point of certification.
He further assured the association of the presence of the VC at the event.
Earlier in the visit, Okunleye appreciated the institution for its contribution to the success of the conference, expressing confidence in the warm welcome of the institution.
