NAUS Gives Governor Sule Seven-Day Ultimatum To Tackle Insecurity

The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Governor Abdullahi Sule, to tackle the security challenges bedevilling the areas occupied by students of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) who are living off-campus.

The Chairman of the Campus Monitoring Committee (CMC) of the association in Nasarawa State, Comrade Aliyu Aminu Maigoro, made this known in a statement on Monday.

Maigoro described the situation as unacceptable, the increasing cases of armed robbery in Angwan Lambu, BCG, and High Court Areas where students of the university reside. 

He urged the relevant authorities to swiftly move into action and ensure adequate security of lives and property in the affected Areas. 

“We have become soft targets for criminals in recent times and urged the relevant authorities,” to stem the tide of increased criminal activities in the affected areas.

“The welfare and security of citizens is the primary objective of any government. As such, we urge the state government to come up with measures to end criminal activities in our campuses,” Maigoro stated further. 

Meanwhile, a crack team of police officers led by ACP Jidda Sunusi and the university's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed paid an on-the-spot visit to the areas affected by armed robbers, on Sunday and assured students of adequate security.
